An easy one: The onesie!
Go to a baby store and select a blue and a pink bodysuit, hand a sealed envelope containing a slip of paper revealing your baby’s gender to the cashier, and ask to have the bodysuit that corresponds to the correct gender secretly wrapped. Wait to open the wrapped present in front of family and friends during your gender reveal party.
Perfect for smaller or more intimate parties: Gender reveal candle
Prepare a nice dinner and place the gender reveal candle in the middle of the table. Light the wick of a gender reveal candle—as it burns down, it’ll reveal the hidden color at the center. By the time you finish your dinner, you will know the gender! Since it’s small enough to box up and ship, a candle is also a great gender reveal idea for family who live far away.
Gender Reveal Splash: Rubber Ducky
For a more intimate way to learn the news, a rubber ducky—which sits on top of a white bath bomb—is for you. Plop it into a bowl and watch the bath bomb slowly dissolve to turn the water pink or blue.
Gender Reveal Balloon Pop
An interactive game is also a good way to go. Pour a little pink or blue paint into one balloon and fill it up the rest of the way with white paint before blowing them up. Then secure the balloon to a board. Now see which of your gender reveal party guests can pop the “belly” first. (Play this outside to minimize mess.)
A few classics:
- The Smoke Bomb
The smoke bomb gender reveal will never get old, especially if you want to organize your gender reveal outdoors surrounded by your loved ones. Have one of your guests let loose a smoke bomb in pink or blue, then the only thing you have to do is smile for a photo-worthy moment!
- The Sweets
A cake or cupcakes are always a fun and yummy way to discover and share the news! Cupcakes are especially fun if you have kid(s) who don’t yet know the sex of their new sibling. When you’re ready, count them down and have your kid(s) bite into their sweet treat at the same time :-)
Whichever way you decide to go, just make sure to have someone take pictures or film the reveal! Watching your and your guests' reaction over and over is a big part of the fun :-)
