What was one of the best moments in your pregnancy?

I was offered a new job 9 weeks pregnant, for the sake of honesty and full disclosure I told the owner of the company about my pregnancy. I was nervous about how she would receive my news, but she congratulated me and then when I could start. I found her response to be refreshing and empowering.

 

What do you wish someone had told you about having a newborn?

That it's okay to take a moment for yourself, even if that means you may have a crying baby.

 

What’s the one thing you can’t live without?

Ice water. I craved ice water for the last trimester of both my pregnancies. Now that I'm nursing I'm also always thirsty. My husband teases me for the amount of water bottles I have.

 

What’s your favorite part of being a mother?

I now have another identity. I have my identity as a creative professional, as a partner to my husband and now I get to have an entire new identity as a Mother. Which is an identity, a label, a job and a love affair a rolled into one.

 

Do you have a typical mom anecdote that makes you smile?

As I was taking a selfie of my daughter in my arms before a bath she peed down my entire body. I still have the photo and we both have huge smiles on our face. That sums up motherhood!
